Yang Li (李阳)
University of Hong Kong
Yang is a PhD student in Professor Pentao Liu's lab at The University of Hong Kong. Before joining the university, he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on the developmental hematopoiesis process and the role of transposable elements in regulating hematopoietic commitment. Yang uses human pluripotent stem cell lines to conduct transgene-free in vitro cultures that monitor the endothelial-to-hematopoietic transition (EHT) process. This approach allows him to study the intricacies of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) formation. His work aims to deepen the understanding of how blood cells are formed during embryonic development, as well as the genetic and epigenetic factors that influence this process.
