Tuan Anh Nguyen
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Dr Tuan Anh Nguyen, born in Vietnam, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Hanoi University of Science and a PhD in Biochemistry at KAIST, where he studied DNA mechanisms. He later conducted postdoctoral research at Seoul National University, focusing on human Microprocessor function. Currently an associate Professor at HKUST, Nguyen investigates the molecular mechanisms of RNA-interacting proteins, particularly microRNAs (miRNAs). These small, non-coding RNAs regulate protein expression and play critical roles in cellular processes and diseases like cancer. His lab focuses on miRNA biogenesis, studying interactions among pri-miRNAs, pre-miRNAs, and RNA-binding proteins. By integrating biochemistry, bioinformatics, and cryo-electron microscopy, Dr Nguyen aims to advance gene-silencing technologies and deepen understanding of miRNA-related diseases.
