Suyu Hao (郝苏瑜)
University of Hong Kong
Suyu Hao is currently a first-year PhD student at the School of Biomedical Sciences, HKU. Her research interests primarily focus on cancer genomics, specifically studying the distribution of "hot spot" mutations in the p53 gene across various cancer types and how these mutations influence the downstream transcriptional activity of the p53 protein. Additionally, she is exploring compounds and small molecules that may restore p53 function in mutant forms of the protein. Suyu is also curious about whether the p53 gene influences the epigenetic landscape, as some studies have shown that p53 gain-of-function can interact with epigenetic regulators, including certain methyltransferases.
