University of Hong Kong
Elise Liew is a PhD candidate studying at the School of Biomedicine Sciences at the University of Hong Kong, specializing in molecular biology and cancer immunology. Her research focuses on the transcriptional regulation of the human endogenous retrovirus K (HERV-K), particularly the ERVK-7 locus at chromosome 1q22, which can produce functional viral proteins linked to lung adenocarcinoma progression. She aims to explore the relationship between ERVK-7 expression and immune responses, especially its role in enhancing immunity in lung cancer. Her work seeks to uncover the regulatory dynamics and immunological relevance of ERVK-7 in lung cancer, providing insights that may inform future diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
