Delbert Almerick Tan Boncan is a research associate at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), working in Professor Danny Leung’s lab. His previous work integrates environmental science, development biology, and computational biology, with a focus on applying omics technologies — such as genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics — to study biological responses to environmental stress and genomic variation. He was previously affiliated with the School of Life Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where he contributed to various projects in environmental science and developmental biology. At HKUST, Delbert is now involved in research on epigenomics of (aberrant) gene regulation leveraging the potential involvement of retrotransposons to better understand the etiology of diseases or developmental mechanisms.
