Alfred Chan (陳靖曦)
The University of Hong Kong
Alfred Chan is currently a research assistant in the School of Biomedical Sciences at HKU Medicine, working in Professor Jason Wong’s lab. His current project involves building a T cell receptor (TCR) library to support the development of more effective immunotherapies. Starting this September, he will begin his PhD studies under Professor Wong’s supervision. Alfred’s research will focus on mutations in enhancers and promoters across various cancer hotspots, aiming to better characterize the mechanisms that influence mutation and DNA repair rates in regions with different levels of transcriptional activity. He has a keen interest in epigenetics, particularly the regulatory functions of retrotransposons and their roles in cancer development. Additionally, he is exploring how retrotransposons may impact DNA repair processes through their activity as regulatory elements.
