Danny Leung
Associate Professor, Division of Life Sciences, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Danny Leung earned his BSc in Human Genetics from University College London and his MSc in Human Molecular Genetics from Imperial College London. He conducted his PhD research under the supervision of Matthew Lorincz in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia. Following this, he completed his postdoctoral fellowship under the guidance of Bing Ren at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, where he also served as a fellow of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. During this period, he acted as the project manager for the San Diego branch of the NIH Roadmap Epigenomics Project. Currently, Leung is an Associate Professor in the Division of Life Sciences at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His laboratory focuses on the interplay between epigenetic pathways in the regulation of non-coding DNA such as retrotransposons. He also serves as the Director of the HKUST Center for Epigenomics Research and is the lead investigator for the Hong Kong Epigenomics Project.
