Mark Chen is a first-year PhD student at University of Hong Kong with a research focus on cancer immunology. His undergraduate studies focused primarily on basic biology and immunology, where he gained a deep appreciation of the immune system's diversity. During the pursuing of his MSc, he explored how to apply immunological principles to cancer treatment. He is particularly interested in learning how to optimise current cancer immunotherapies - specifically, how to coordinate innate and adaptive immunity to enhance treatment efficacy, sensitise patients to immunotherapy, and translate laboratory research into patient benefits.
