Ronald Pang (彭鼎佳)
Hong Kong Metropolitan University
Pang is a scientist with a specialisation in cancer biology, primarily focusing on the role of microRNA in cancer development. His research has significantly contributed to understanding the transformation of cervical cancer cells. He identified the role of miR-34a and miR-135a in the transformation of cervical cancer cells and he has also discovered that the miR-135a can induce formation of cancer cells with cancer stem cell properties in cervical cancer. Pang is going to conduct studies on using biomarkers for detecting stress and depression. His literature review revealed that potential biomarkers for these mental health conditions are also crucial proteins within the immune system. Through this course, he wishes to update his knowledge in immunology and to gain insight for further research.
