Min Kim
University of Hong Kong
I am an MPhil Year 1 student at the AIDS Institute, Department of Microbiology, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). I graduated with the First Class Honour with a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at HKU. From my final year project, I am working on a virus vector vaccine to establish immunity against SARS-CoV-2 or Monkeypox Virus. With the growing importance of inducing mucosal immunity to protect people against those viruses, my MPhil project continues with utiliSing a Modified Vaccinia Tian Tan (MVTT) virus vector which has great potential to induce strong mucosal immunity. Since translational immunology, which covers from bench to bedside, is critical for vaccine study, this summer course will be truly valuable for me. Moreover, learning rising techniques such as mRNA-based T cell engineering and related topics from metabolism to immunotherapies, would be highly beneficial for me to picture the field of immunology for research.
