Celine Beck is a first-year PhD student in the Materials and Condensed Matter Physics group at University of Glasgow, a department specialising in the nanocharacterisation of functional materials via transmission electron microscopy. Her research focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of metal - organic frameworks (MOFs) for application as barocaloric refrigerants. Splitting their time with Diamond Light Source, she is also developing a pressure cell for variable-temperature and pressure synchrotron powder diffraction at the I11 beamline.
