Yuichi Hoshino

Yuichi Hoshino, MD, PhD, is an orthopaedic surgeon and researcher who works as a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine. He has 22 years of clinical experience and specialises in sports-related injuries, especially knee ligament injuries. After conducting research on knee biomechanics at Kobe University under Professor Masahiro Kurosaka for four years to obtain a PhD degree in 2007, he continued biomechanics research at the University of Pittsburgh under Professor Freddie H. Fu from 2009 to 2011. He has published seventy-seven articles related to anterior cruciate ligament injury and treatment, including seventeen articles as the first author.

His main research topic is rotational laxity and instability after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and reconstruction. He developed two measurement systems for rotational laxity and has written fifteen papers related to rotational laxity. He has obtained multiple research grants, including from the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF). He is a member of several internationally established orthopaedic societies, including ISAKOS, the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the ACL study group.

Hoshino is an associate editor of three journals: the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics, the Journal of the AAOS Global Research & Reviews, and the Journal of Mechanics in Medicine and Biology (JMMB). He also sits on the editorial boards of five journals: the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM), Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA), Asia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation, and Technology (AP-SMART), Annals of Joint (AOJ), and Joints.
