Suli Qiu (邱素苈)
Sun Yat-sen University
Suli Qiu is a PhD candidate in gynaecologic oncology at Sun Yat-sen University, where she investigates the molecular drivers of endometrial cancer. Utilising RNAi techniques (siRNA/shRNA transfection), she identifies therapeutic targets for aggressive subtypes of the disease. Her two manuscripts under review focus on RNAi-guided biomarker discovery. While Suli has mastered RNAi workflows, she recognises its limitations in achieving permanent gene modulation—an area the Croucher course will address through CRISPR-Cas9 editing (knockout/knock-in, base editing) and functional genomic screens. This expertise will enable her to engineer rare endometrial cancer models that mimic clinical heterogeneity, bridging RNAi’s transient silencing with CRISPR’s precision for personalised therapy development. Post-PhD, Suli aims to pioneer CRISPR-optimised organoid platforms during her postdoctoral training, accelerating target validation for underserved patients. By synergising RNAi and CRISPR, she aspires to redefine therapeutic strategies for gynaecologic malignancies.
