Marina Achkasova

Marina earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology with honours from Kazan Federal University in 2022, researching the bioremediation ability of Chlorella sorokiniana. She completed her master’s degree with honours at ITMO University in 2024, focusing on isothermal amplification for dose-dependent discrimination of opportunistic microorganisms. Marina has experience as a biology teacher, bioanalyst at RapidBio, and intern at Geropharm, specialising in insulin-producing E. coli engineering. Currently a research assistant at City University of Hong Kong, she studies virus-induced cellular senescence in Professor Lidsky’s lab and will begin her PhD there in June 2025.
