Cherie Leung (梁曉瑜)
University of Hong Kong
Cherie is a research assistant under the supervision of Dr Brian Hon Yin Chung, focusing on clinical genetics, genomic medicine, and genetic counselling. She uses next-generation sequencing techniques to study genetic variants, diagnose patients, and investigate disease mechanisms. Currently, she is leading a project to develop a CRISPR activation (CRISPRa) platform to activate silent neurological genes in patient-derived fibroblasts, starting with Dravet syndrome. Her research aims to study genetic variants in their native genomic context and explore potential applications of CRISPR-Cas technologies for therapy development in the future.
