Ziyun Xu studies generalised symmetry and boundary conditions using subfactor theory in algebraic quantum field theories (Especially for 2d irrational conformal field theories described by generalised Q-systems and charged fields). Tensor network approach to topological orders in 2d is closely related to subfactor theory studied recently by Yasuyuki Kawahigashi. He is looking for more interactions between subfactor theory and the theory of topological phases of matter.
