Ran Luo (罗然)
Peking University
Ran Luo is a PhD candidate specialising in the field of generalised symmetries. His research focuses on the intersection of theoretical high-energy physics and condensed matter theory, with a particular emphasis on the categorical language of symmetries. He has published several articles (https://inspirehep.net/authors/2686817) exploring topics such as symmetry categories for continuous symmetries and construction of Symmetry Topological Field Theories (SymTFT).
His work applies mathematical languages to advance the understanding of (mixed-state) topological phases of matter and the non-perturbative aspects of QFT. He is also interested in the physical realisation of categorical symmetries in lattice models and their implications in other fields. By connecting abstract algebraic frameworks with concrete physical systems, he seeks to uncover new dualities and constraints within the landscape of modern theoretical physics.
