David Yeung (楊浚洋)
University of Hong Kong
David Yeung a second year MBBS student at HKU. He'll be pursuing a year-long research exchange at Stanford under Professor Eric Gross to research alcohol metabolism. Last summer, He researched Alzheimer's pathology using cryosectioning, immunostaining, and mass spectrometry wet lab methods. Beyond the lab, Yeung is committed to community service. He started Students for Science, which provides free interactive science classes to underserved refugee children. During the pandemic, the team distributed over 300 homemade science kits to fill the education void that lockdown created. In university, he volunteers at a clinic in Sham Shui Po to assist in consultations to elderly with chronic, degenerative orthopaedic diseases. He views this course as a key opportunity to strengthen his understanding of arterial health—a central component in ageing and multiple disease processes—to improve patient care.
