Yi Wang

Yi Wang is a professor in the Department of Physics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where he also serves as Postgraduate Programs Coordinator, Associate Director of the Space Science and Technology Institute, and an RGC Research Fellow (2024). He earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, after a BSc from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2005. His career includes postdoctoral positions at McGill University (2009–2012), Project Researcher at IPMU (University of Tokyo, 2012–2013), and Stephen Hawking Advanced Fellowship at the University of Cambridge (2013–2015), before joining HKUST in 2015. A theoretical physicist specialising in cosmology, his research focuses on the early universe, cosmic inflation, dark energy, black holes, gravitational waves, dark matter, and cosmological collider physics. He has over 100 publications in leading journals, including Physics Reports and Physical Review Letters, and is recognised for excellence in teaching with awards from HKUST and involvement in Hong Kong's International Physics Olympiad team.
