Oliver Philcox is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Stanford University, affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (KIPAC) and the Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics (LITP). Originally from the south of England, he earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Cambridge, followed by a PhD in Astrophysics from Princeton University in 2022. He held a postdoctoral position and Simons Junior Fellowship at Columbia University before joining Stanford in 2025. His research focuses on theoretical, statistical, and observational cosmology, particularly analysing galaxy surveys and the Cosmic Microwave Background to probe fundamental physics, including inflation, the early universe, and physics beyond the Standard Model. He develops efficient estimators for power spectra and higher-point functions applied to large-scale structure data. In 2024, he received the New Horizons Prize in Physics (with collaborators) for contributions to the Effective Field Theory of Large Scale Structure.
