Yuanhua Huang

Yuanhua Huang is an assistant professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Prior to joining HKU, he was an EBPOD Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL EBI). Huang completed his BEng in Automation from Tsinghua University (2009-2013) and earned his PhD in Informatics, specialising in Machine Learning and Computational Biology, from the University of Edinburgh (2014-2017). Huang’s research focuses on developing computational approaches to understand complex biological systems, with a particular interest in machine learning techniques for genomics and bioinformatics. His work aims to bridge the gap between data-driven computational methods and biological discoveries, driving innovation in areas such as disease modelling and personalised medicine. His academic background and research experience have positioned him as a leader in applying computational tools to solve critical challenges in biomedical science.
