Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong
Danbao Ma is currently working as a research assistant at the University of Hong Kong. She is engaged in the research of oncology, cancer immunology, CRISPR technology, and cancer genomics. She studies new ways to understand and fight cancer, especially using immunotherapy and genome engineering. She has participated many important cancer research projects, including creating tools using CRISPR for studying the origins of gliomas and recording the activity of cancer cells, designing CAR-T cells that can resist problems in solid tumors by removing a gene called NR4A, researching changes in the cells' metabolism in breast cancer stem cells using a protein called Caveolin-1, making fluorescent nanobodies to find DNA damage in tumors treated with chemotherapy She combines molecular biology, immunology, and genomic technologies to research cancer. She has strong technical skills in single-cell RNA sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9, and flow cytometry.
