Yiming Chao is a PhD student in Stem Cell Biology at the LKS Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong (HKU), and the Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology, working under the supervision of Professor Rio Sugimura and Professor Pengtao Liu. Her research focuses on early hematopoiesis in human stem cell-based organoids—investigating the origins of early blood generation and its role in supporting embryonic development. Utilizing single-cell spatial RNA sequencing and a novel molecular barcoding system, Yiming aims to apply stem cell products toward regenerative medicine, having also completed research visits to the University of Cambridge and Harvard Medical School to integrate advanced technologies into her work.
