I am a dedicated PhD student in cell and molecular biology, focusing on neurodevelopmental biology. In my PhD journey, I am concentrating on Yin Yang 1 (YY1), where mutations in human YY1 can result in neurological impairments, highlighting its role in CNS development. By utilizing transgenic mouse models and cerebellar organotypic cultures, I am able to reveal the transcriptional niches of YY1 that regulate the development of a unique cerebellar neuron—the Purkinje cell—contributing to the YY1 haploinsufficiency syndrome. However, only 5% of cerebellar neurons are Purkinje cells, making single-cell studies and live-cell imaging essential to study the intracellular activity in mutant Purkinje cells. It would be my next step to make my research work further advance.
