Institute of Urban Meteorology CMA
Zhigang Cheng is a researcher in the Institute of Urban Meteorology, Beijing, CMA. His research interests mainly focus on the planetary boundary layer, where he explores the observations, mechanisms and applications. Accurate profile observations of wind, temperature, aerosol, etc. in the PBL are crucial. He has some results about vertical turbulence profile observations using Doppler wind lidar, and characteristics of aerosol vertical turbulence transport using both Doppler wind lidar and aerosol lidar. He is also trying to apply the observations of ground-based lidar to the researches of high-impact weather, such as thunderstorm, which is the focus of the weather bureau.
