Vivian Li (李曉炘)
Hong Kong Observatory
Vivian Li is working on wind shear and turbulence alerting systems and LIDARs at the Hong Kong International Airport to enhance aviation safety. She calculates and determines the scanning strategy of the LIDARs. She tunes the LIDARs to achieve higher probability detection and lower the alert duration. She is eager to know more about different applications of LIDARs in our high density city. She is also exploring the use of multiple LIDARs to monitor the wind field near Chek Lap Kok, such as the head wind and cross wind change during landing and take-off. She would also like to learn how can LIDARs help us to study microclimate.
