Lutz is head of the Institute of Energy and Climate Concepts (INKEK), retired professor and member of the Institute of Urban Development, University of Kassel, and chairman of the steering committee for urban and urban climate maps climate and climate change (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure - VDI). He has experience in the field of meteorology applied to urban studies, with an emphasis on urban thermal comfort and its influence on urban planning and projects, working mainly on the following topics: urban thermal comfort, urban climate, urban climate maps, dimensioning of public spaces and urban planning and weather. He conducts research in European, Asian and Latin American cities.
