Chris Cheung (張志超)
ClusterTech Limited
Chris Cheung obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Philosophy in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has worked in ClusterTech Limited, a company based in Hong Kong, on topics around High Performance Computing for more than 20 years. He got in touch with atmospheric science when assisting in modelling air quality in China in 2014. He and his team analysed the potential wastage of computational resources by the WRF and MPAS-A atmospheric models, and pioneered to implement Customised Unstructured Mesh Generation and Hierarchical Time Stepping on top of the open-source MPAS-A model, on a cloud-computing platform. The resulting ClusterTech Platform for Atmospheric Simulation (CPAS) has been well-maintained for years and undergoes continued research and development.
