Prof Slobodian Simonovic
Professor, University of Western Ontario
Fellow, Canadian Academy of Engineering (2013). Prof Simonovic is Director of Engineering Studies in the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction at Western Ontario. He is internationally recognized for his interdisciplinary research in systems analysis and the development of deterministic and stochastic simulation methods for addressing challenging systems problems lying at the confluence of society, technology and the environment - with applications in water resources management, climate change and public infrastructure. His main contributions include modelling risk and resilience of complex systems. He is a recipient of awards for excellence in teaching, research and outreach including the 2013 Ven Te Chow Award of ASCE. He published over 200 papers in international journals and three major textbooks (two translated into Chinese).
