Xuan Li is a PhD student in the TMLR group at Hong Kong Baptist University, under the supervision of Professor Bo Han and in close collaboration with Professor Jiangchao Yao. He is honored to be funded by the Talent 100 PhD Scholarship Scheme, which supports excellence in interdisciplinary research. His research focuses on developing trustworthy machine reasoning for scientific applications using foundation models, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs). Xuan aims to accelerate scientific discovery and applications in fields such as biology and chemistry. He emphasises the importance of key properties in trustworthy machine reasoning, including reasoning power, robustness, safety, and explainability. His goal is to enhance the reliability and interpretability of these models for scientific tasks.
