University of Hong Kong
Iriza Baranyanka is an MSc graduate researcher in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at the University of Amsterdam and VU, focusing on applying machine learning to biomedical data. Currently, at the University of Hong Kong, she integrates large-scale transcriptomic datasets, clinical metadata, and whole-slide images to investigate tumor biology and immune activation, particularly emphasizing transposable element (TE) expression in colorectal cancer. Iriza develops reproducible computational pipelines and works extensively with R and Python in high-performance computing environments. She is especially interested in how AI can bridge molecular signals with histopathology. Her broader research interests lie at the intersection of AI, cancer immunology, and translational genomics, with the goal of generating insights that can meaningfully support biomedical research.
