Huyen Trang Bui
Veterinary Laboratory
Huyen Trang Bui holds a PhD in influenza viruses and has over a decade of research experience in respiratory virus pathogenesis, veterinary diagnostics, and ocular microbiome studies. During her PhD and postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Public Health at HKU she investigated the risk assessment, tropism, and pathogenesis of influenza and SARS-CoV-2 in human, swine, and canine respiratory tracts using tissues, organoids, and primary cell and cell line models. Huyen Trang then served as a scientific officer at CUHK where she oversaw laboratory projects on the ocular microbiome and retinoblastoma organoid models. Currently, as a Scientific Officer (Medical) at the Veterinary Laboratory of the AFCD, HKSAR Government, she focuses on developing and validating diagnostic assays for animal diseases and zoonoses, collaborating with research institutions, and advising on biosafety and biosecurity. Huyen Trang aims to integrate AI approaches to advance biomedical research and diagnostics.
