Terry Yip is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics and Co-Director (Data Science) of the Medical Data Analytics Centre at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). He is devoted to real-world big clinical data research to understand the epidemiology, natural history, assessment, treatment, and clinical outcome prediction of CHB and MASLD through rigorous statistical analyses and cutting-edge data analytics. He established one of the largest cohorts of patients with CHB who achieved hepatitis B surface antigen seroclearance with long-term follow-up. He is also a principal investigator in the VCTE-Prognosis study, an international multicentre cohort study currently involving 16 centres with 18,000 patients with MASLD, focusing on the use of vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) and other non-invasive tests for long-term clinical outcome predictions. He has over 210 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
