Byron Choi (蔡冠球)

Byron Choi obtained his PhD and MSE degrees in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in 2006 and 2001, respectively. He also received his BEng degree in Computer Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Byron served as an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) from 2005 to 2008 and was a research associate at the University of Edinburgh in 2005. His research has been published in prominent journals and conferences, including IEEE TKDE, VLDBJ, ACM SIGMOD, PVLDB/VLDB, IEEE ICDE, ACM SIGKDD, WWW, ACM CIKM, AAAI, and IJCAI. Currently, Byron is an associate editor for ACM SIGMOD 2027 and has been serving on the Editorial Board of Distributed and Parallel Databases (DAPD) as an associate editor since March 2025. He is also a fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and was the director of a Croucher Foundation Advanced Study
