Aleka Ayalew
University of Oulu
Aleka Ayalew is currently pursuing doctoral research at the University of Oulu, Finland, focusing on leveraging large language models (LLMs) to enhance clinical decision support systems. His work centers on integrating transformer-based architectures for medical text summarisation, explainability, and predictive modelling within real-world healthcare settings. To date, he has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and served as a reviewer for more than 100 papers in the fields of medical AI, natural language processing, and health informatics. His current research combines domain-adaptive fine-tuning, hybrid modelling approaches, and clinician-centered evaluation to improve the transparency, reliability, and clinical utility of AI systems.
