My research focuses on the field of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron tomography (ET), complemented by light microscopy and molecular biology methods. After holding my PhD degree, I joined Prof. Byung-Ho Kang in the CUHK, to conduct a TEM study on chloroplast biogenesis. After completing the project with Prof. Kang, I had the opportunity to join Prof. Liwen Jiang's lab at CUHK, in which I focused on optimizing electron microscopy protocols and advancing tomography techniques to enable the ET imaging at a larger volume, even reaching the whole-cell level. By utilizing Whole-Cell 3D ET analysis at nanometer resolution, I conducted a comprehensive study on vacuole dynamics and distributions in Arabidopsis developing pollens. Recently, I have been fully engaged in the development of novel techniques within the field of cryo-ET, utilizing our state-of-the-art microscopy platform in our AoE.
