ZIZHEN LIANG
Zizhen Liang research focuses on transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron tomography (ET), complemented by light microscopy and molecular biology techniques. After earning his PhD, he joined Professor Byung-Ho Kang at CUHK to investigate chloroplast biogenesis using TEM. Subsequently, he joined Professor Liwen Jiang's laboratory at CUHK, focusing on optimising electron microscopy protocols and advancing tomography techniques to enable larger volume ET imaging at the whole-cell level. Utilising whole-cell 3D ET analysis at nanometre resolution, he conducted a comprehensive study on vacuole dynamics and distribution in developing Arabidopsis pollen. Recently, he has been developing novel cryo-ET techniques, leveraging state-of-the-art microscopy platforms within their Area of Excellence.
