Chinese University of Hong Kong
Zhongyuan Liu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Sichuan Agricultural University and a Master’s degree in Cellular, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Nanjing Agricultural University. In 2023, he completed his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology under the supervision of Professor Kang Byung-ho at Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), before joining Professor Zhuang Xiaohong’s laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher in 2024. His research utilises confocal microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM), and electron tomography to investigate organelle homeostasis, vesicle trafficking, and plant autophagy across various developmental stages and environmental stresses. Zhongyuan primarily aims to elucidate plant autophagy machinery under environmental stress and explore its potential in plant development.
