I have long standing interest in studying mitochondria biology. During my PhD studies, I was trained as a cell biologist and focus on delineate the molecular mechanism of mitochondria quality control. I recently joined the Prof. Lan Wang's lab in HKUST to continue studying mitochondria biology. One of my project is to decipher the function of a mitochondrial AAA ATPase protein. I plan to combine techniques from structural biology and cell biology to understand how mitochondria and essential mitochondrial proteins play a role in cellular quality control pathway. With this lecture, I hope to have a systematic overview of different techniques for structual biologies studies.
