Shangyu Dang
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
I obtained my PhD degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2014 and completed my postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco, from 2014 to 2018. In 2019, I moved to Hong Kong to begin my independent research career. I am currently an assistant professor in the Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. My lab focuses on the structural and mechanistic aspects of biological macromolecules, with a particular interest in ion channels and transporters, utilizing a combination of approaches, including single-particle cryo-EM, cryo-ET, biophysics, and biochemistry. In addition, we are actively involved in the development of new methods in the fields of single-particle cryo-EM and cryo-ET. By tackling recurring challenges and expanding the applications of these techniques, we aim to contribute to their continuous improvement and advancement.
