I’m currently working as a Research Associate in Prof. Byung-ho Kang’s lab. My study focuses on the unusual Golgi structures in the root cap. The Golgi stacks in border cells (BCs) and border-like cells (BLCs) have hypertrophied margins, reflecting increased biosynthetic activity to produce polysaccharide components of the mucilage. Since the structure of an organelle mirrors its function, this unique Golgi morphology likely indicates novel mechanisms. My research aims to uncover the functions and mechanisms underlying this unique Golgi structure in root border and border-like cells. In addition, I have also been exploring the role of a root cap-specific transcription factor (TF) and auxin homeostasis in Golgi dynamics during root cap maturation.
