Liwen Jiang
Choh-Ming Li Professor of Life Sciences, Chinese University of Hong Kong
Jiang Liwen is a distinguished academic in the field of life sciences. He holds the position of Choh-Ming Li Professor of Life Sciences at the School of Life Sciences, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He also serves as the Director of several programmes and centres at CUHK, including the Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) Programme, the Centre for Cell and Developmental Biology, the RGC-AoE “Centre for Organelle Biogenesis and Function,” and the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology and Agricultural Biotechnology (IPMBAB).

Jiang’s educational background includes a BSc from South China Agricultural University, an MSc from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD from Simon Fraser University. Before joining CUHK in 2000, he spent four years conducting post-doctoral research at Washington State University.

His research interests lie in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology, Protein Targeting and Trafficking in Plant Cells, Organelle Biogenesis and Function in Plants, and Plant Bioreactors for Pharmaceutical Proteins. He has made significant contributions to the field, with numerous publications to his name.

Throughout his career, Jiang has received numerous awards for outstanding teaching and research, including the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award by China’s Ministry of Education and the Research Excellence Award by the University. He has also secured competitive research grants worth over HK$20 million from various funding bodies.

He is also a member of the American Society for Plant Biologists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Society for Seed Science.
