Elaine Chow completed her medical training in the UK and earned a PhD at the University of Sheffield in 2015, focusing on the cardiovascular effects of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes. She joined the Phase 1 Clinical Trial Centre at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, establishing glucose clamp and CGM sensor evaluation studies. Elaine has secured grants from HMRF, RGC, ITF, and industry, leading clinical studies in prediabetes, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. As Principal Investigator or co-investigator, she has contributed to over 100 Phase 1-4 cardiometabolic drug studies. Her work includes over 130 peer-reviewed articles, with notable publications in Diabetes Care and Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology. Elaine received the Hong Kong College of Physicians Richard Yu Lecture and the American Diabetes Association’s Women’s Interprofessional Network abstract award in 2022. Besides teaching and research, she is Associate Editor for Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice and serves on several editorial boards. Elaine also advises the Hospital Authority on drug selection and utilisation.
