Elena Yang (杨春晖)
Sun Yat-sen University
Elena Yang is a second-year graduate student in Shi Mang's lab at the School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University (Shenzhen Campus). Her research focuses on discovering human clinical pathogens and understanding their interactions with hosts using high-throughput sequencing technology. Throughout her two years of master's studies, Elena has been deeply involved in identifying biomarkers for pathogens in the human upper and lower respiratory tracts. She independently conducted the entire analysis process, from bioinformatics to statistical analysis. Proficient in programming languages commonly used for analysis, such as Linux, R, and Python, she also possesses a fundamental understanding of viral genomes. As her research progresses, Elena has become increasingly aware of the gaps in her knowledge base and the importance of effective communication, which led her to register for this opportunity without hesitation.
