Yongchang LEI (雷永畅)
School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong
Yongchang Lei is an MPhil student at the School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on influenza vaccine design through synonymous codon and dinucleotide recoding, with the goal of developing vaccine backbones with improved host-restriction and attenuation profiles. With a wet-lab background in virology and bioinformatics-related MPhil training, he is eager to further explore how viral genomic data can be used to understand virus adaptation, transmission, and evolutionary dynamics. His broader interests include how dinucleotide composition and codon-usage patterns influence viral adaptation and shape viral evolution, and how these principles can inform next-generation vaccine design.
