Jingyuan Bian is a PhD student in the Department of Health Technology and Informatics at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Specialising in microbial pathogen genomics, Jingyuan’s research focuses on the evolutionary and transmission dynamics of the Influenza A virus (IAV). Notably, they recently authored a comprehensive study in Emerging Microbes & Infections, analysing over 1,000 human IAV isolates to characterise Hong Kong's post-COVID-19 epidemic. Driven by a passion for public health, Jingyuan aims to bridge the gap between genomic surveillance and clinical translation, developing efficient computational pipelines for real-world infectious disease monitoring.
