Guoqian Gu

Guoqian Gu is a recent PhD graduate in infectious diseases and public health from City University of Hong Kong, completing his doctoral degree in April 2026. He earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from Southwest University and Master of Science in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from Northwest A&F University. During his PhD, he focused on animal virology and antiviral drug development, participating in multiple Hong Kong government-funded research projects. His work spanned molecular epidemiology of porcine viruses, zoonotic disease risk assessment, and antiviral mechanism studies against feline infectious peritonitis virus. He has published 10 SCI papers (4 as co-first author), won the 2024 FAVA Best Scientific Presentation Award, and received consecutive CityU Institutional Research Tuition Scholarships for 2023-2025.
