Lam Phung is a graduate medical doctor (2009), he has obtained a PhD in biostatistics (2015), and worked as a biostatistician at University of Oxford in their Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU, Vietnam) on clinical research from 2010 to 2020. In 2020, he became a lecturer at a medical school in Vietnam. Lam developed his teaching skills and was involved in collaborative research with the local Centre for Disease Control and OUCRU on various topics, including vaccination. In 2024, he was awarded the SG Academies South-East Asia Fellowship as a Senior Research Fellow at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (Singapore) to work on a project using a vaccine registry to estimate the risk of vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks in Vietnam. This project also explores a new approach to characterising vaccine hesitancy using a vaccine registry database. Lam will formalise this idea into a mathematical model to describe vaccine hesitancy.
