Zoe Yi Song
University of Hong Kong
Zoe Yi Song is a bioinformatician specialising in infectious disease epidemiology, phylogenetics, and phylodynamics to track the transmission and evolution of respiratory viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and human parainfluenza viruses. Her work integrates genomic data with epidemiological data to reconstruct viral spread and assess transmissibility. She develops computational pipelines for pathogen genomic surveillance, with a current focus on genotyping tools for highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 viruses, contributing to global classification and nomenclature systems. By bridging molecular epidemiology and data science, she aims to deliver actionable insights for outbreak response and public health.
