Jiarui Zheng (郑家蕊)
Peking Union Medical College
Jiarui Zheng is a first-year PhD student at Peking Union Medical College, focusing on vaccine hesitancy and immunisation implementation.
Her research interest in this area began during her undergraduate internships in hospitals and at the CDC, where she realised that psychological, informational, and institutional factors strongly influence vaccination.
Since then, she has studied influenza vaccination among older adults in China and HPV vaccine hesitancy among university students in collaboration with the Beijing CDC. These studies have provided her with a strong foundation in qualitative methods and implementation science, while strengthening her interest in vaccination decision-making across age groups and social contexts.
Through this course, she hopes to deepen her understanding of vaccine hesitancy, learn practical strategies for effective communication, and exchange ideas with peers from diverse backgrounds so that she can contribute to more effective and context-sensitive vaccination interventions.
