Dr Leigh Connor is an industrial liaison scientist at Diamond Light Source, the UK's national synchrotron facility. He specialises in bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application, specifically helping commercial partners utilise synchrotron-based techniques to solve complex R&D challenges. His work involves applying various X-ray characterisation methods to study the properties of materials in real-world industrial contexts. In the 2026 SR Summer Course, he will share insights into the diverse industrial applications made possible by synchrotron radiation, demonstrating how these high-end scientific tools provide critical data for sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals to aerospace and specialty chemicals.
